A Piece of Romsey History

Circa 1860s
On the 11th day of October 1869 I was sold to the Lancefield District Road Board for ten pounds. In the same year the aforementioned Board built an office on me with bluestone foundations.
Two years later I was proud to have the office renamed and formed as the office for the Shire of Romsey, a position which I held for over 70 years.
I was then transformed yet again to become the Municipal Infant Welfare Centre.
In February of 1992 I was sold to a private owner when the Shire had no further use for me.
The only private owner since 1869. That must be a record somewhere.

Now I am to be sold again. I am very sad. But life must go on. My current owner did take good care of me fixing things up and giving me a few extensions and modifications.

My original front facade is still hidden behind the enclosed verandah.
So I am preserved. I am situated next to the most magnificent borrowed landscape one can image with beautiful 100 year plus trees right next to the picturesque creek that flows past me. I am in a semi secluded space which I like and I am looking forward to my new owners whoever they may be. I am looking for a kind person to buy me that appreciates the history of me and that will care for me and love me as my previous owners have.
